of Jabez 4 (Eleazer 3,Joshua2,
John1) and Deborah (KNOWLTON)
BIGELOW, was born 6 Aug 1765 at Westminster, Worcester county, MA. He
married, on 25 November 1790, Rebecca Bowman, daughter of Edmund and Esther
(Hoar) Bowman. She was born in Lincoln 27 August 1766. They lived in Westminster
until 1802, then moved to Boston, and again in 1804 to Cambridgeport, where
they remained. He was in the mercantile business until 1835, when he retired
to his estate, known formerly as "Inman Farm." In Cambridgeport he
served as Selectman and Assessor, and several times represented the town
in the General Court. Howe's Bigelow genealogy describes him as a man of
high character and quiet christianity, sociable and charitable. His wife
Rebecca died 08 April 1844, and he on 04 February 1849, both at Cambridgeport.
