Searching for David Bigelow, bn 1799, New London, Columbia Co.,NY., md Minerva Levake in Iowa Co.,Wisconsin. He died in Iowa Co.,WI, in 1861 and also his wife. They had at least five children that are known. Wealthy, Lydia, Clarissa, Sophia, and Minerva.
Any and all help is needed. Thanks
Note2:
3-19-98 e-mail from Carol to Don Bigelow of Grand Rapids that questions David's birth and death date, source etc. (in Don's file"). Don: "He is buried on the Warren Porter Farm - the Bigelow Cemetery (in a field), poorly maintained as I understand it. I also understand that he has no tombstone at all, the graves are marked by field stones.
I do have a short obit for him which said he was born 19 Dec 1801 and died Oct 17, 1860 age 58 yrs., 9 mo. and 28 days. My math says the dates are correct and true.
Thus, it is a mystery as where his Bigelow Book birthdate came in as 1799?? I would like to know the source of that, indeed.
Perhaps this mystery can be put to rest.
Carol

You asked about my husband's ancestor.  David Bigelow 16B26.4 and Manerva Levake had a daughter Clarissa Lavinia Bigelow, who 1st married Alonzo Frank Young.  They had a daughter, Lydia, and a son Frank.  Clarissa and Alonzo divorced and she married Andrew McClary Liscomb.  They had a daughter,
Cleo Leona Liscomb, who was my husband's grandmother.  Apparantly, not much has been contributed on David Bigelow's family.  There are no further entries in Vol. II, for this line.  When I get through this project I'm on now, will submit what I have.  Thank you for your concern about my problem.  Sincerely, Peggy Wilson

Hi Rod,

I could not get your search engine to work.  Also could not find what I was looking for by checking the index or the surname list (for Levake).  I wonder if you could help me.

  • I have burial information on several Bigelows in Clyde Township, Iowa County, Wisconsin, but this Minerva is not included.  I would very much appreciate klnowing what information you may have on Bigelow/Levake burials in Clyde Township.  Minerva (Manerva) was the wife of David Bigelow, and apparently later of Noah Young.  I will be happy to share what information I have.

    Hello,
My name is LaVerne C. LaVake and I noticed on your website a reference to a Biography of Augustus LeVake.
Can you tell me where I could find such a volume or at least tap into information within? I have found many discrepancies in the scant geneological document that I have about my family and would appreciate any help available. LCL
