David Wineas 8 BIGELOW



15336.583      David Wineas 8 BIGELOW, son of William Winants 7 ( Cornelius 6 , Paul 5, Cornelius 4, Samuel 3, Samuel 2, John1 and his second wife Mary (SWEENEY) BIGELOW, was born at Chatham township, Argenteuil, Quebec on 15 September 1843, (Bible records say 16th). His father died when David was eight and his mother married again. David earned his own living while still a young boy and in 1866, he, his brother Cornelius and their cousin, John Blair, all moved to Bremer county, IA settling in the town of Waverly. He was a harness-maker and owned his own shop after a few years. He married on 29 September 1869 - another source states 29 April - Mary Lucena Thompson who was the daughter of Seth and Sarah A. (Barker) Thompson. Mary Lucena (or Lucinda) was born 22 November 1845 at Terre Haute, Vigo, IN. Shortly before his death, David sold out and moved for a time to Albert Lea, Freeborn, MN. He died at Waverly on 15 July 1898 and his widow on 29 September 1929 in Albert Lea. Both are buried in Harlington cemetery, Waverly, IA.

15336.5834     Jessie Gertrude, b 30 Oct 1878; d 21 Oct 1962 Albert Lea; unm. but adopted her deceased sister Nona's son.

15336.5835     Clinton Adolph, b 29 May 1882; d 03 Jan 1939 Chicago; m (1) April 1902 Grace Dean and (2) unknown second wife; 2 children.

15336.5836     Nona Beatrice Marie, b 03 Jan 1890; d 28 May 1916 Minneapolis; m 18 Dec 1912 Frank C. Tumbull; 1 son later adopted by sister, Jessie-see above.
