James 5 BIGELOW

12951    James 5 BIGELOW, son of Elisha 4 (Joseph 3,Jonathan2, John1) and Hannah (NICHOLS) BIGELOW, was baptised 8 May 1748 at Hartford, Hartford county, CT. He was a married man, but his marriage, and any knowledge of his wife, is unknown. he died in Hartford 10 May 1821.
1790 census: CT-Hartford- Hartford-James Bigelow: 2-0-7-0-0.
The 1800 census shows 1 male and 2 females under age 10, 1 each male and female between 10 and 26, and 3 males between 26 and 45 (yet James was then age 52). Barbour erroneously attributes to him 2 children deceased in 1801 and 1804, but these prove to be #1380 1/2 and #1382 in Howe's Bigelow genealogy.

There are few records of James, and therefore we accept only the following as his family:

12951.1    infant son, died 19 Mar 1787 Hartford.

12951.2     Mary Ann, b ___ 1788 Hartford, CT; d 09 Dec 1857 Luzerne, Warren co, NY; m Arnold Bullard (b 03 Oct 1777 Hartford, d 01 Apr 1834 Luzerne, NY); 9 children; (see below).
