John Arlington ⁸ BIGELOW

15336.A11      John Arlington ⁸ BIGELOW, son of Charles Chandler ⁷ ( Job ⁶ , Paul ⁵, Cornelius ⁴, Samuel ³, Samuel ², John¹) and Roxanna (SAMPSON) BIGELOW, was born 16 Oct 1828 at Ashford, Cattaraugus, NY and married Ellen Loveland in 1850. She was born at Hartford, CT on 11 May 1832 and was the daughter of Homer Loveland of Hartford. This family lived in Freeport and Marion, IL and John died in Freeport, Stephenson county on 22 February 1866. His widow died in Chicago, Cook co., IL on 12 Feb 1891.

                              On my travels in northern CA, I found a well-preserved copy of Howe's
                              Genealogy of the Bigelow Family in an antique store. This note is inscribed on the
                              front page: We can trace back to the Mayflower thru my grandmother, Mrs. C.
                              C. BIGELOW (Roxana SAMPSON) who was a lineal descendent of the (Boy) Henry
                              SAMPSON who came over on the Mayflower. Mrs. Ida (BIGELOW) MERRELL. In
                              other notes, Ida lists her birth, 16 May 1864 in Freeport, IL, her father, John
                              ARLINGTON, b 16 Oct 1828, her grandfather, Charles C. BIGELOW, and her great-
                              grandparents, Job and Hannah BIGELOW. If there are direct descendants who are
                              interested, I will (reluctantly) trade it for the Bigelow Family Genealogy, Vol I.
