Nolton 6 BIGELOW


16C43.7     Nolton 6 BIGELOW, son of Eleizer 5 ( Joshua 4 , Eleazer 3 Joshua2, John1), and Lydia (SPENCER) BIGELOW, was born 04 January 1815 at Whitestown, Oneida county, NY. In the Panic of 1837, he and his brothers came to Michigan, spending the winter in a 7. x 9' log hut, barely big enough for their three bunks and a stick-and-clay fireplace. They felled trees and began erecting cabins for their parents and family. Nolton took up a farm, and became well-known in the community. He married, on 16 March 1852, Letitia Parker, daughter of William and Elizabeth (  ___) Parker. She was born 14 February 1822 in Leicestershire, England. Nolton died in Springfield township, Oakland county, MI 16 October 1864; Letitia died 30 April 1874; both are buried in Bigelow cemetery. (see below) (More)
