SILAS WRIGHT page 2

Silas Wright was governor of New York State from 1845 to 1856; in addition he held several state offices and was a U.S. Congressman and Senator. His sister Eleanor was married to Alpheus 6 BIGELOW (Roger 5,Joseph 4, Joseph 3,
Joshua 2, John 1). Silas WRIGHT wrote a letter to his parents, after receiving news of Alpheus BIGELOW's sudden death.

I recently visited the cemetery in Canton NY and found a large spire stone for Silas Wright and his wife Clarrissa. I hope to have pictures of it here soon. Eleanor is buried in this cemetery as well. Find picture on Alpheus 6 page. Along with stones for her son Silas W. BIGELOW and his son who died young at 8 yrs old. This cemetery is on West Street in Canton and known as The Wright cemetery.
