Obituary of Ethel Mae:
BROOKS Ethel Mae, age 72, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep Sunday, August 6th, 2006, in her Toledo home. She lived a beautiful full life with her family and friends. She devoted her entire life to taking care of her children and grandchildren. For the past 20 years, she worked with her friends at Lehmann's Greenhouse, which she truly loved. She was loved and respected by everyone she knew and will be deeply missed. Those loved and left behind include her daughter, Connie (Roger Pollard) Brooks, of Toledo; son, Charles "Chuckie" Brooks, of Toledo; granddaughters, Hillery England, Tiffany Traxler, and Brittany Winters; great-grandson, T.J. Grimes; sisters, Jean Mercereau, Mary Lou Larzeler, and Shirley Pinkelman; brothers, Bill, Jim, and Bob Bigelow, and the entire Pollard family whom she loved and respected dearly. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brooks; daughters, Trish and Annette; parents, Ethel and Edgar (Holly) Bigelow; and beloved friends, Sonia and Anna Mae. Friends may visit at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Wednesday, August 9th, 2006 from 4-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

     Chester "Chet" Charles Bigelow, Jr., 79, of Whitehouse, Ohio, died March 25, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, OH. He was born August 13, 1931, in Toledo, OH, to Chester and Kathryn (Wagoner) Bigelow, Sr. Chet began his military service as a U.S. Marine and he was a Korean War Veteran. He also served in the Navy Reserves and the AirForce. In 1986 he retired in Field Systems Maintenance at the 180th Air National Guard. Chet was an avid sailor and loved the Mills Trophy Race. He was often called the man who could fix anything. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Whitehouse American Legion, VFW #3013, Air Force Sergeant Association and a past member of the Toledo Yacht Club. He married Nancy (Harris) May 4, 1985, she survives; along with children, Chester C. Bigelow III of Hampden, ME, Barry (Vickie) Bigelow of Salt Lake City, UT, Christopher (Janet) Bigelow of Maumee, OH, Kelly (Sharon) Bigelow of Fairview, PA, Katherine (Doug Keene) Schack of Millersville, PA and Steven Hilty of Findlay, OH; grandchildren, James, Joshua, Melissa, Jennifer, Jessica, Jerrica, Kristen, Jessica, Michele, Benjamin, Daniel, Joel, Garrett, Ian, Sean and Katie; great grandchildren, Austin, Ashton and Abbagail, brother, Michael Bigelow of Toledo, OH; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gayle Bigelow of Toledo, OH, Richard (Jean) Harris of Mesa, AZ, Robert (Aline) Harris of DeVille, LA, Toni (Gill) Hoenicke of Findlay, OH and Jean Dishong of Sarasota, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.      Friends and family will be received Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Peinert Funeral Home, Whitehouse, OH, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery with Military Honors. The family suggests giving memorials to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank Sharon Benedict, Amy Kievens, Becky Black, and Chaplain Cheryl Nutting. A very special thanks to Greg and Earl who helped the family get through the last few nights and to all the other Hospice Angels.

      Viola May (Bigelow) Baumhower, age 91, of Toledo, Ohio died peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Heartland of Waterville. Viola was born March 21, 1917, to William and Louise (Stough) Bigelow. She was a former member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. Viola enjoyed life, people, gardening, and baking for her church, her family, and her friends. She worked all of her life and maintained employment into her 80's. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
      She is survived by her daughters, Gail E. Janney of San Francisco, CA, Linda M (Walter Winterfeld) of Altha, FL, and Cathy A. (Gary Grup) of Bonita Springs, FL; grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Janney, Sara Beth Janney, Steven (Julie) Berkebile, Larry Billings, Garren (Molly) Grup, and Carly Grup; step grandchildren, Kenneth and Todd Grup; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Jamilynn, Michaela Berkebile, and Nina Olivia Grup; step grandchildren, Nicole, Cody, and Casey Grup; sisters-in-law, Mildred (Baumhower) Patton, Marybeth Bigelow; many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Sue Rahilly. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Baumhower; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

OBITUARY: Toledo Blade Newspaper [Ohio]: BIGELOW, Barry W.
   Barry W. Bigelow, 75, of Point Place, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.  He was born in Toledo, OH, to Chester and Katherine (Wagoner) Bigelow in 1934.
   Barry played football for Libbey High School then he attended Bowling Green State University on a football scholarship.  He courageously served his country in the United States Navy on board the USS Lexington during the Korean War.  Barry worked as a lineman at Toledo Edison for 50 years.  He belonged to the Local 245, sailing was a love of his and he participated with his brother, Chuch, in the Mills Races.  His 'puppies' Patsy and Loretta were his little loves and his family was his life.
   Barry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years; Virginia "Gayle" Bigelow, children: Keith, Kelly (Gina), Mark, Karen (Brad), Michael, Mitzie, Shannon and Barry (Kim); 20 grandchildren and 4 great-granchildren; brothers: Chuck (Nancy) and Michael; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Ronnie and Shaun, and sister: Barbara Ann.
   Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2009, until 8 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St. (419.726.1583).  Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home on Monday, November 9, 2009, with Pastor David Rushton officiating.  Interment will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  A very special thank you goes out to Barry's nurse, Mary Crosby for her wonderful care furing his illness.  Contributions are to be made to Alzheimer's Association.  Condolences may be placed on  www.jasinfuneralhome.com - -
