Silas Samuel ⁷ BIGELOW

16163.39 Silas Samuel ⁷ BIGELOW, son of Silas ⁶( John ⁵, John ⁴, Joshua ³, Joshua ², John¹) and Anna (BROOKS) BIGELOW, was born at Phelps, Ontario, NY on 28 October 1819. Intentions to marry his cousin, Electa Bigelow (16163.96), were filed at Conway, Franklin, MA on 21 April 1838. Electa was born 04 August 1822 at Conway and died there on 23 June 1847. Intentions to marry were filed on 06 October 1848 to Jane Tower - no marriage date for either has been found nor do we have the death date of Silas. Silas reversed his name to Samuel Silas after his mother died, becoming an orphan and being raised by his uncle, Samuel Brooks. He early was a butcher, then wholesale provisions and later a wealthy speculator in real estate. (see below)

Silas SAMUEL BIGELOW was born on 28 Oct 1819 in Phelps, Ontario Co., NY. He was also known as Samuel Silas. Silas Samuel was raised by his uncle, Samuel Brooks, ot Townsend, Mass., and was from then on known as Samuel Bigelow, after his parents died.
In a book, "Rich Men of Massachusetts", by Forbes, pub. 1852 is the following listing:
"County of Middlesex, Brighton, "Samuel Bigelow, $200,000. Began with small means. First a butcher in Brighton, then
wholesale provision dealer in Charlestown, and now speculator in Real Estate. A keen calculator, who never loses sight of the
dollar crop."
Silas SAMUEL BIGELOW and Electa BIGELOW were married in 1838 in Shelburne, MA. Electa BIGELOW (daughter of
Samuel Silas BIGELOW and Electa WILDER) was buried in North Shirkshire Cemetery in Shelburne, MA. She was buried
in N. Shirkshire Cemetery in Shelburne, MA. She was born on 04 Aug 1822 in Shelburne, MA. She died on 23 Jun 1847 in
Shelburne, MA. Silas SAMUEL BIGELOW and Electa BIGELOW had the following children:
