Rod,
I found your Bigelow site through Michelle Moore's entries in Ancestry World Tree.  I enjoyed it.  I see one of your sons graduated from St. Mike's in 1999.  I graduated from there in 1958. I am interested in your info on Alonzo Bigelow b. 02 Jan 1827 in Bennington, VT d. 16 Feb 1867.  M. Mary Sibley Aldrich 13 Mar 1862.  One child Sarah Jane Bigelow, no dob given.

From research done by my son, my gr-gr-grandmother, Mary (Luther) Aldrich at 27 years of age, took as her 2d husband Alonzo Bigelow 35, on 12 Mar 1867 in Bennington.  This would put his yob as 1832.  She had divorced her first husband, my great grandfather Anson Aldrich, earlier that year.  Alonzo died in 1869.  This is confirmed in the 1870 census where we find Adaline Luther 53 (Mary's mother) keeping house. With her are  Maria Stockwell 28 (Mary's sister), paper maker, Albert Stockwell 27 (Maria's husband), teamster, Mary Bigelow, 31 keeping house, Herbert Bigelow 10 (Mary's son), and William Stockwell 7 (Maria's son).    Our Mary is, once again, without a husband and is calling Herbert by his stepfather's last name.  There is no sign of a Sarah Jane Bigelow.  In the 1850 census for Bennington, Mary and Maria were living with their father Welcome and mother Adeline.  Also in the house were two teen age boys, one named Alonzo.  Mary married a 3d time, date not known, to Cyrus P. Kellog.  She and Cyrus lived at 224 Grove St. in Bennington and raised one of Mary's grandchildren, Jessie Aldrich, my grandmother.   Jessie's daughter, my mother, is 89 years old and lives in the house on Grove St.  I would appreciate any comments you may have on this info.  and any further info you can supply.  For example where did you get Mary's middle name as Sibley?  According to my son the marriage record showed her name as Mary S. Aldrich but we always assumed it was an error and was really Mary L.  Thanks for anything you can share.
More:
Since my last note I have done some research and these are my conclusions:
Alonzo Bigelow m 1st Mary Sibley, b abt 1832 dau of Lyman Sibley and Judith Small or Smith.  They had one dau Sarah Jane.  He m 2d on 12 Mar 1867 Mary Luther Aldrich, b May 1840 dau of Welcome Luther and Adeline Bowen, also her 2d marriage.  They had no issue.  He died 16 Feb 1869.
More from Bud:
I was looking at Alonzo Bigelow again and decided to do some work on Sarah Jane.  I can't find any proof that she ever married John Kelso.  In the 1870 census they only lived two doors apart but in 1880 he hadn't moved and she did not appear, nor did her grandmother and grandfather (the Lyman Sibley's).  In 1900 John age 51 was living with his wife Carrie age 37 and they had been married sixteen years.  These statistics do not match those of Sarah Jane who was born about 1850.  Do you have any evidence that Sarah Jane married John?
Bud
