Alice Obituary
The Modesto Bee
Tuesday
November 27, 2012
Alice Dolores Bigelow, of Riverbank, passed away on the morning of November 19th after an increasingly exhausting fight with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Helena, Montana to Lawrence and Minnie Sullivan, Alice was raised in Springfield, Oregon and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1949.
In 1954 she married the love of her life, Gene Bigelow, and spent forty-six blessed years with her soul mate before his passing in June of 2000.
She was a loving and caring person, touching the lives of everyone who knew her. Always placing the needs of others before her own, Alice was a steward in the truest sense of the word. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Modesto for thirty-five years and, most recently, a member of St. Frances of Rome in Riverbank.
She will be dearly missed, but forever remembered as an angel to all who knew her. She is at rest, reunited with her soul mate. Finally, Home.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Bill) Koenig of Newbury Park, California; son, Jeff (Donna) Bigelow of Riverbank; her puppy, baby Emma; grandsons, Kyle, Kevin and Brian Koenig of Newbury Park, California, Christopher (Vivian) Bigelow of Brighton, Massachusetts and Cory Bigelow of Fort Lewis, Washington, currently serving in Afghanistan. She is also survived by her sister, Pat (Bud) Peterson of Port Townsend, Washington; brothers, Eugene (Tootie) Sullivan of Cornelius, Oregon and Bob (Deana) Sullivan of Brookings, Oregon; and sister, Sandy (Jim) Brandenburg of Modesto, California.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Minnie Sullivan, her beloved husband, Gene Bigelow, and brother's Andy, Larry and John Sullivan.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, November 29th at 11:00am at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Riverbank, California, reception immediately following.
Burial will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery on Friday, November 30th at 10:00am.
