Obituary Gerald Bigelow
           Gerald, 83 of Alma, Michigan, died at
      home on Tuesday with his wife and family by his side. Jake was
      born to Bill and Irene (Johnson) Bigelow. He married Rita Janice
      McDonald On July 17, 1944. They had eight children. 
           Jake retired from Lobdell-Emery after 38
      years of service and then retired from the U.S. Postal Service
      after 19 years, where he served as a Rural Letter Carrier for the
      Alma Post Office. 
           He enjoyed working his family farm
      northwest of Alma. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
      He is survived by his wife Rita, of 64 years, four sons - Gerald
      Bigelow, Jr. (Shirley) of Ithaca, David "Mike" Bigelow (Donna) of
      Harrison, Dennis Bigelow (Cathy) of Elwell, Kim Bigelow (Barb) of
      Wheeler, four daughters - Suzanne Acton (John) of Breckenridge,
      Valerie Richards (Bruce) of Burton, Mary Ellen Ainley (Keith) of
      Melvindale, and Laura Clark (Brent) of Alma. He is also survived
      by 8 brothers and sisters, Virginia Cole of Merrill, Carlyle
      (Carrie) of Riverdale, Beverly Fillhard (Lyndon) of Houghton Lake,
      Larry (Donna) of Merrill, Janice Devereaux (Gale) of Sanford, Jean
      Welsh (John) of Gladwin, Sharon Ferguson (Don) of Zachary, LA ,
      and Terry (Sandra) of Merrill. 
           He is also survived by 27 grandchildren,
      31 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. 
           He was preceded in death by his parents,
      two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and one grandchild. 
      Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2008 at St.
      Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Maksym officiating.
      Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. A prayer service
      will be held on Thursday evening, officiated by Deacon John
      Cremin. 
    
Rita Obituary:
           Rita Janice Bigelow, 94, of Alma passed
      away Monday, October 28, 2019 at her home with her family by her
      side. She was born September 17, 1925 in Onaway, Michigan the
      daughter of Glen and Esther May (McGillis) McDonald.
           On July 17, 1944 she married Gerald J.
      “Jake” Bigelow, a union blessed with 64 years and eight children.
           Rita was a member of Nativity of the Lord
      Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting,
      doing puzzles, fishing, camping and bowling. Rita was known for
      her beautiful cakes.
           Rita is survived by three sons, Gerald
      (Shirley) Bigelow, Jr. of Ithaca, Dennis (Cathy) Bigelow of
      Elwell, Kim (Barb) Bigelow of Wheeler; four daughters, Suzanne
      (John) Acton of Breckenridge, Valerie (Bruce) Richards of Burton,
      Mary Ellen (Keith) Ainley of Melvindale, Laura (Brent) Clark of
      Alma; daughter-in-law, Donna Bigelow of Harrison; 25
      grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister,
      Esther Cornwell and a brother, Warren “Manley” McDonald both of
      Alma.
           She was preceded in death by her parents;
      her husband, Jake Bigelow; son, David “Mike” Bigelow; son-in-law,
      Bill Stewart; grandson, Kenneth Darmody; sisters, Mary Lou
      Terwilliger, Georgiana Cole; and a brother, Glen McDonald.
      Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at
      Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI with Fr. Jim
      Carlson officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery,
      Alma. Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. A rosary was held.
    

 
        Carlyle Obituary:
           Carlyle, 86, of Crystal, died November
      24, 2014 at Laurel's of Carson. Carlyle was the son of William and
      Irene (Johnson) Bigelow. 
           He married Carrie Kienitz on November 29,
      1958 in Wheeler, Michigan.
           He served in the National Guard and later
      the Marine Corps. He was employed by Lobdell-Emery, where he
      worked for 45 1/2 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing,
      hunting, and his dog, Bella.
           He is survived by his wife, Carrie; his
      children: Constance (Keith) Evans of Sheridan, Catherine
        Hopkins of Fenwick, Thomas (Charlene) Bigelow of Riverdale;
      17 grandchildren; 34 great grand children; his siblings: Virginia
      Cole of Breckenridge, Beverly (Lyndon) Fillard of Houghton Lake,
      Larry (Donna) Bigelow of Merrill, Janice (Gale) Devereaux of
      Sanford, Jean (John) Welch of Gladwin, Sharon (Donald) Ferguson of
      Zachary, Louisiana, and Terry (Sandra) Bigelow of Merrill; and
      many nieces and nephews.
           He was preceded in death by his parents,
      his brother Gerald, his daughter Cynthia Brooks, and granddaughter
      Lisa Evans.
      Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2014
      at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton.

      Carlyle Bigelow, "descended from John Bigelow".  Wrote her
      for more information--we have nothing on this family except that
      Carlyle Bigelow was one of eight children, marriage and her
