Ebenezer 3 BIGELOW

16A    Ebenezer 3 BIGELOW , tenth child, ninth son of Joshua 2, (John 1), and Elizabeth (FLAGG) BIGELOW, was born 04 September 1698 in Watertown, Middlesex co, MA. He was married 29 May 1720 to Hannah BROWNE, daughter of Abraham and Mary (HYDE) BROWNE (see below), born 05 October 1699 at Watertown. He was a carpenter by trade. His father sold him a piece of land in Weston 07 October 1717. He lived in Weston a short time, then moved to Worcester, then later to Newton, and by 1740 was living in Waltham. Family tradition says he died in Cuba (see below). We find few records for his children, whose dates are taken mostly from baptismal records. Bond's history of Watertown states that Ebenezer's wife Hannah died 03 November 1775, but gives no town. It is unusual that so few of the children can be located on the 1790 census, implying fairly early deaths.

My name is Sandi Lewis - Malburg.  I am a decendent of Ebenezer Bigelow (see below)
Sandi > Elgin G. Lewis > Hazel Jones-Lewis> Philip Jones> Mary Jane Dafoe - Jones> Conrad Dafoe> Lois Prindle(Pringle)-Dafoe> Debra 4 (Bigelow) Pringle> Ebenezer 3 Bigelow,   Joshua 2, (John 1)
Any ways, most of the family histories say that Ebenezer is said to have died in Cuba.   I found two sources that show he was in the Colonial Military and in fact died in the Battle of Ticonderoga in the French and Indian War.   Please see attached.
I have no  idea where he is buried, in  those day they sometimes buried the dead on the battlefield.   I haven't gotten that far.  But I wanted to share these sources to prove what I'm saying.   I know there are more than two Ebenezer's but the dates and places fit.  Abecrombie went into that battle with 15000 troops and lost 2000 in the fight.
Now if I could just find burials!!!!

Note:  Debra was added temporarily--awaiting information from Estelle and Richard at rhoward@netinc.ca after 12 Feb 1999 e-mail received from Estelle. Sent her Ebenezer's descendancy chart and Family report, including Hopestill, whose account mentions Prindle's having cared for his children as, distant relatives.  Hopestill's wife's sister, Eunice, married William Prindle.... Debra Bigelow, (who would be sister of Hopestill) married Joel Prindle.
Estelle's address is:  148 Cleary Avenue, Dunnville, Ontario N1A  1A3.
Correct line per e-mail from Estelle 2/22/1999.
