Samuel 5 BIGELOW


# 15577.    Samuel 5 BIGELOW,  son child of Jacob 4( Thomas 3 , Samuel 2, John 1 BIGELOW and Susanna (MEAD)  BIGELOW was born 09 April 1754 at Waltham, Middlesex co, MA. He married (1) 30 May 1776 Mary Harrington, born 16 April 1754 Waltham, daughter of Samuel and Lydia (Ball) Harrington. Samuel served in the Revolutionary War as a Captain. They lived in Waltham, where his wife died 22 December 1787, leaving three children. Samuel then moved to Barre, and married (2) 07 January 1790 Betsy Sanger, born Framingham 06 April 1763, daughter of Daniel and Olive (Hooker) Sanger. We have no death date for her. Samuel died in Barre on 07 February 1836.

Thomas Gardiner's regt., which matched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Concord and Lexington; service, 3 days; also, Corporal, Capt. Edward Fuller's co., Col. Brooks's regt.; return of men in service [probably in Oct., 1776]; also, Capt. Fuller's co., Col. William McIntosh's regt.; enlisted March 19, 1778; discharged April 5, 1778; service, 18 days, at Roxbury; roll dated Newton; also, Capt. Peirce's co., Col. Samuel Thatcher's regt.; enlisted Sept. 2, 1778; discharged Sept. 6, 1778; service, 3 days; company stationed at Cambridge, in expectation of the British troops landing at Boston.

15577.5      Elizabeth, b 04 Apr 1792; d 07 Nov 1866 Petersham, MA; m 11 June 1837 Devid H Grosvenor, b 30 Nov 1779, son of Rev. David and Deborah (Hall) Grosvenor; res Petersham, where he was deacon, selectman, and colonel in the militia. He died 10 Aug 1842. No issue.
