child of  William's six children but only five were  listed." Dr. Muriel K. Hanna, Sr., Rt. 1, Box 1189, Snug Harbor Road, Summerton, SC 29148-9765
sent follow-up material on this family which agrees with what we had 26 July 2000. He said "I think 1820 is the correct birth year." But sent no proof.  Article with death notice of "Deloney" was in the Marion Star [SC] 20 Mar 1872 which he sent a copy of and it states:

"The remains of D. Bigelow who mysteriously disappeared about three months ago, and was supposed to have been murdered, was found a few days ago by a turpentine hand, in the woods on Little Cypress Creek, about thirteen miles South of Marion, SC.  Nothing but his skull and jaw bone was found.  A remnant of his clothing, and his pocket book with a small amount of money and some papers found near-by, proved his identification. Near the same spot were also found two black bottles, one half full of whiskey, and one of Butler, Gary and Chadwicks.  Immigration tickets which they can redeem by coming forward, and ministering on estate of deceased and paying five dollars to his poor widow.  The cause of his death is no longer a difficult problem to solve."

Mr. Hanna wrote on 24 July 2000, "Thanks very much for the Bigelow Pedigree chart and helping me find the link between Deloni and William H. Bigelow.  I am sending my line, as it fits into the Bigelow line (the Hannah line and Keefe line.)  I have the Keefe line as far back as 1730 and am stuck there for the moment, but will have it back to the immigrant soon, hopefully.
As far as the death of Deloni, Sr., everyone thought (at that time) he had been murdered for his money.  He had rode his horse to Marion, SC to pick up his check for teaching and never returned.  He still had money on his body when found which rules out theft.  There was not enough of his body left to know if he was shot (murdered).  There was 1/2 bottle of whiskey left.  Normally 1/2 bottle of whiskey wouldn't kill anyone.  My guess is he probably had a heart attack and went into the edge of the woods to sit down against a tree and the heart pain got worse until he had the fatal heart attack.  Either that, or he passed out from the whiskey and was attacked and killed by a wild animal.  But I wonder what happened to the horse?  At any rate I am going to try and find out the rest of the story!!  Thanks again, Muriel K. Hannah."

Comments: I have thoroughly enjoyed your research on the Bigelow family. My mother was a Bigelow from Pamplico, SC
and we are trying to find her lineage. Her father - Aurelius Deloni Bigelow, Jr. was born in Marion County, SC; this we
know. The 1850 Census records in S.C. show his father Aurelius Deloni Bigelow Sr. living in Marion County at the age of 35
and being born in North Carolina. I can't get any further than that. I would love any information anyone might have on any
Bigelow's moving south, possibly into North Carolina in the early 1800's. Thank you for your help!

I'm Judy Randall, Dott's daughter.  Mom was so pleased to get the information you sent.  Deloni (8) is her grandfather:  Florence is her mother.  She is pulling together corrected information for you on all of the family complete with names, dates etc.  We are going to pursue the possibility that Aurelius Deloni (7) is the missing 6th child of William and will let you know what we discover.  My mom is 73 years old and quite excited about discovering her roots and extended family.
Thanks again and we will be back in touch.
Kind regards,
Judy Randall

Hi Rod,
Do you have any info on Roderick Bigelow, who lived in Warren County , N.C.? He married Elizabeth  Pattilloe on 20 Nov 1811. I believe  his son Deloney/Delaney born abt  1815 is my gr,gr,gr grandfather. Deloney is listed on the S.C. census 1860 as being 45 years old and married to Margaret (McClellan) age 26. He is listed as a school teacher and born in N.C.  Is this Roderick (12956) the son of Elisha(1295) the same Roderick of Warren County, N.C. There is also a will for Roderick
Bigelow, 1819, in Caswell County N.C. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.   Muril Hanna

Have been doing some research to locate Aurelius Deloni Bigelow, born 1810/1820. Dot Parler of Lexington, S. C. thinks perhaps Deloni was missing child of
William (6) Bigelow so have been using that as a base. According to your  "sources" you indicate correspondece with descendants. Could we have access
to the names of these descendants?   If so, please send via EMAIL to marthaandarchie@aol.com.
Many thanks.
More:
Also, for your infor:  I recently found certificate for marriage which he bonded in 1843. He had signed his name "DelonA"
Martha Anne Burke Bigelow (wife of Archie Rufus Bigelow, Jr.).  Archie is great-grandson of Deloni.
