Leander Lowell 8 BIGELOW


16251.372      Leander Lowell 8 BIGELOW, son of  George 7 ( George 6  , James 5 , James 4 , Jonathan 3, Joshua 2, John 1), and Martha (BOARDMAN) BIGELOW, was born at Skowhegan, Somerset co, ME on 07 February 1833 and married on 09 May 1854 in Melbourne, Australia, Mary Shehan.  She was born in Shannagolding, Limerick, Ireland 13 April 1833.  Her surname has also been written Sheahan and at least one record gives her name as Mary Ann Shakany, but her sister spelled the name Shehan as witness to Mary's son William's birth.  Mary signed her marriage certification with an "X".  Leander had migrated with a cousin to Australia in the gold rush days. They lived in Ballaratt, Australia for several years and then Leander and family returned to ME settling in Cornville.  She died on 23 September 1913 and he on 16 July 1915 in Cornville, ME.
